I recently learned about this fascinating drink called Kombucha that seems to be gaining popularity in Romania and elsewhere. From what I understand, it’s a fermented tea beverage that’s made using beneficial bacteria and yeast, creating what many call a probiotic drink. I’ve been seeing it everywhere lately, especially from this brand called Vigo that offers all sorts of interesting flavors like mango, passion fruit, and ginger. What caught my attention is how it’s marketed as both a refreshing beverage and a health drink – they sell it in regular bottles like any soft drink, but also in concentrated “shots” that emphasize its probiotic benefits. While the prices aren’t too high, around 9-10 RON (Romanian Lei) for a bottle, what’s really intriguing is how this ancient fermented tea has been transformed into a modern, commercially successful health beverage with such a wide variety of flavors.
